Everyone in IT today is talking about, "migrating to the cloud" and maybe with good reason. To be clear, when you are talking about the cloud, probably the easiest thing to remember is if you are utilizing the cloud, you are sharing resources. For instance, you might have all of your storage space located somewhere offsite (or possibly onsite somewhere) with multiple entry points and multiple users having access to it as they require it. You can do the same with Server resources like CPU and RAM.

We believe a lot of people when discussing "the cloud" are referring to internet based services, while others are referring to internal resources shared by different users. The trouble is, there is no authority on what is "the cloud" and what it isn't.
