Windows 7: Time to Upgrade!
Being Strategic About I.T. - Providing strategic I.T. planning and product recommendations are some of our responsibilities to you as your I.T. partner/provider. There have been many changes in the I.T. world as of late. Blueline Computer LLC has identified some major areas of change that you should be aware of.
Windows 7 - What is it?
Windows 7 is an operating system that is simpler to use, more responsive, and full of new possibilities.
Windows 7 - Why do I need it?
- Security - This is perhaps the most important reason for upgrading. Your XP operating system is over 10 years old now! (released in October 2001). Windows 7 will provide much better "out of the box" security than XP. It was written to fix the problems with XP security.
- Speed and Performance - Windows 7 beats XP in all performance benchmarks.
- More Advanced hardware Support - Better support for hardware devices. XP does not support all of the new hardware devices being released.
- Especially Good for Notebooks - Faster connections to wireless, faster boot times, low memory requirements.
- You Don't Lose XP, There is a Virtual XP Mode - If you have an application that ONLY runs on XP, you can still run it in XP mode. (Virtual XP PC!) * PC has to meet MS minimum requirements.
- More Intuitive - There are also a numbr of improvements in the user interface that make it simpler and more intuitive to work with the operating sytem.
- Easier migration from XP - New tools allow for easier migration from XP.
- XP Support Ending - Mainstream support ended April 2009. Extended support ends in April 2014. This includes no more "Fixes" but only Critical Security Hole Patches.
*** Warning: Windows Recovery Virus ***
Windows Recovery is a fake computer analysis and optimization program that displays fake information in order to scare you into believing there is an issue with your computer. It will display false error messages and security warnings on the infected computer, and will then suggest you download and install a program that can fix the problem. Do not do it! Call us today if you get this!
